Our client is a major Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the automotive sector, supplying interior components. They are importing a large number of raw components into the UK from the Asia Pacific region for incorporation into the dashboards of motor vehicles being sold outside of the EU.
Customs Connect advised the client that an Inward Processing Relief (IPR) scheme could be implemented to claim import duty relief on these imported components. However, our client lacked the expertise on the application process and the administrative handling of IPR. We supported them throughout their IPR scheme application process. We then utilised our best practice to put procedures and instruction guidelines in place for the client to follow.
Additionally, Customs Connect assisted the client with the IPR application, provide the necessary submissions to the Customs Authorities and handled all relevant queries on the clients’ behalf.
- Our client is now able to claim import duty relief, saving them in the region of £1.5m per year under the IPR scheme
- This allows for improved cash flow, leading to the client being able to offer a more cost-effective service to their customers
- Our best practices, and the lean procedures we have implemented have ensured that our client is fully compliant with all the IPR requirements
